Karádi-Berger Winebar

No, this is not the title of a best-seller or a box office hit. Bor, mámor, Bénye was the title we came up with for an event that we invented to bring you closer to Erdőbénye, possibly the most enchanted village in all of Tokaj and the Foothills, along with its wineries, farmers, gastronomy, and master artisans. What we offer you is more than just another festival: We want you to surrender to the spell cast by this captivating historic wine region. So if you visit us, don’t expect a large stage surrounded by gadget stalls and fast food stands, don’t expect a crowd, and don’t expect to just step out of the car and find everything you need in one spot right away. It’s more like an invitation to a picnic. Take a stroll around the village and drop by a few wineries for a sip of wine and a taste of local Zemplén food, check out an art exhibit, chat with local masters of old trades, and listen to some live music. The musical program will be very colorful, but be ready to do some walking again to hear acoustic guitar, folk songs, a church choir, and performances by Ruttkai Bori and Specko Jedno.
As the picnic is a family event, we expect many kids to show up. They will be entertained by clowns at the Kinder-Garden, a concert by the Hébe Hóba Banda, and a variety of arts and crafts games.

The center of the wine estate, this vintner’s house perhaps once belonged to the noble Szirmay Mansion. Later it was owned by wine merchants. In 2005, when we purchased it, the house had been abandoned for over a decade and overgrown by a veritable jungle of weeds and shrubs. We may have saved it from collapse by fixing the roof.
Keeping the original functional design of the building, we plan to set up the grape processing facility at the rear , while the front will be refurbished as a guest house that we hope will remain faithful to the original shape and atmosphere of the house.
With the work of renovation in progress during the festival, the front rooms will be provisionally furnished in the mood of the “art bars” of Budapest.
