"Ruin bar"

Bor Mámor Bénye 2009 1Come and meet us, the winemakers, and taste our wines

When we bought this historic building set in its large garden in 2005 a real jungle with superb established trees surrounded the house that had been standing empty for a decade. The property has always belonged to winemakers and wine merchants, a tradition we are a part of continuing.

We have plans to reconstruct the house according to its original plan and thus the wine processing area will be at the back. Retaining the original form and its special atmosphere, we will create a guest house from the house itself.

Until then we decided to establish a wine bar in the front rooms where visitors can come and meet us, the winemakers, and taste our wines. The idea is in the great tradition of the “ruin bar” (that has understandably become so popular in Budapest) that makes use of a traditional and characterful building in its unrenovated state, retaining original features and allowing the space to be enjoyed until building/renovation work is complete.

We always have art exhibitions that are changed regularly and delicious bites to eat are provided by the imaginative chefs/owners of the Ős Kaján.

Open: Saturday afternoons from 2pm to 8pm
